Игорь Матвеевич родился 10 сентября в Москве.
1967-1968 гг. – учился в Московском строительном институте.
В 1973 году окончил ГИТИС – курс А.А. Гончарова.
С 1973 года Игорь Костолевский – актёр Театра им. Вл. Маяковского.
С 1990-х годов параллельно играл и на сценах других театров.

Igor Kostolevsky was born on September 10, 1948 in Moscow.
In 1967-1968 he studied at the Moscow Engineering Institute.
In 1973, he graduated from GITIS (A. Goncharov's course).
Since 1973 he has been an actor of Mayakovsky Theatre.
Since the 1990s he has also played in other theaters.
Meritorious artist of the RSFSR (1984).
People's Artist of Russia (1995).
PRIZES AND AWARDS
Lenin Komsomol Prize Winner (1978 - for the role of Stoletov in the TV series ‘That's all about it’).
Best actor in 1986 according to a poll of the magazine ‘Soviet Screen’.
Laureate of the State Prize of Russia (2000) for taking part in the play ‘Marriage’, theater 'Na Pokrovke').
Order of Honour (2004).
Order ‘For Merit to the Fatherland’ IV class ’For the contribution to the development of domestic theatrical and cinematic art’ (2009).
