Михаил Филиппов родился 15 августа в Москве.
Учился на филологическом факультете МГУ (четыре курса). В 1973 году окончил актёрский факультет ГИТИСа – курс Г.Г. Конского.
Во время учебы в МГУ играл в студенческой студии «Наш дом».
С 1973 года Михаил Филиппов – актёр Театра им. Вл. Маяковского.

Mikhail Filippov was born on August 15, 1947 in Moscow.
He studied at the Department of Philology of Moscow State University (four courses). In 1973 he graduated from the Acting Department of GITIS (G. Konsky's course).
During his studies at Moscow State University he played at the student studio ‘Our Home’.
Since 1973 he has been working at Mayakovsky Theatre.
PRIZES AND AWARDS
People's Artist of Russia (1995).
Laureate of Moscow Award (1997, for his roles in performances 'Marriage’ and ‘Napoleon the First’).
Prize at Film Festival ‘Constellation’ as Best Supporting Actor (1997, for TV series ‘St. Petersburg Mysteries’).
Laureate of the State Prize of Russia (1999, for taking part in the performance ‘Marriage’, Theatre Na Pokrovke).
Special prize of ‘Idol’ Award.
Order of Merit, for years of work in the field of culture and arts (January 2005).
Winner of the ‘Crystal Turandot’ in the category ‘Best Actor’ (2010, for his role in the play ‘The Secret Journal of Privy Councillor’)
Winner of the International Stanislavsky Award in the category ‘Stagecraft’ for his recent roles (2011, for his roles in productions ‘The Secret Journal of Privy Councilor’ and ‘Those Bitches Tried to Kill Me’, staged at theater ‘Hermitage’)
