One of the most long-awaited events of this jubilee season was the premiere from the director Leonid Kheifets. For the first time of the many years Leonid returns to the big stage with a new production which takes place at the main stage of The Mayakovsky Theater.
"Pygmalion" – perhaps the most famous and witty play by Bernard Shaw, which tells the story of the transformation of simpleton Eliza Doolittle (Natalia Palagushkina) in a refined fashionable London`s lady under the guidance of a professor of phonetics Henry Higgins (Igor Kostolevsky), his mother (Olga Prokofieva) and Colonel Pickering (Eugene Paramonov / Anatoliy Lobotsky). After all, in the terms of the wager between them, the professor must train during a few months the uneducated flower girl by pronunciation accepted in a high society, and on secular reception should present her as a duchess ...
The play involves some of the best artists of The Mayakovky theatre and the permanent co-director became an artist Vladimir Arefyev (such performances as "Fathers and Sons", "Price", "All My Sons")
The premiere performance took place on December 8, 2017.
